Hey, Bigwig! is our daily focus on an up-and-coming actor looking for a big break at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.
Today: Erin Cummings
Q: Why should the movie industry take a chance on you? What do you have to offer?
A:
I don't believe that the movie industry should "take a chance" on
anybody. That perpetuates the notion that this business is all about
luck and I don't believe in luck. I believe that you work smart and you
do well at your craft and that gets acknowledged by people wanting to
work with you. At least, that's been my path. I've been working
steadily for the past five years and will continue to do so because I
choose roles that showcase different aspects of my range and ability so
that my work speaks for itself. What I believe sets me apart from other
actors is that I have an emotional range that I don't see a lot of
these days, combined with solid training and a theater background -
another thing I don't see a lot of these days. I feel just as confident
about my physical comedy as I do my period dramas.
