SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) – Former “Detroit 187” star Erin Cummings founded Mittens for Detroit in 2010 to collect and distribute new gloves and mittens to families in need. In the first year, nearly 10,000 mittens were given to ten area non-profits.

Winter will soon be upon us once again. Cummings joins FOX 2 News Weekend on Sunday to talk about Mittens for Detroit’s plans for the months ahead. They include putting collection boxes in several locations throughout metro Detroit and distributing the gloves and mittens they receive to agencies such as Covenant House Michigan.

You can also now make a donation through the Mittens for Detroit website. The organization says they will use the money to purchase gloves at a greatly reduced cost.
